THANKS A BISON (with aftermath photos!)

Edmonton! Thanks for being amazing! That was a whole lot of fun last weekend! Thanks for supporting local designers, artists and crafters for the 8th year in a row! We’re going to be back at holiday time, so look for us again on Nov 28, 29 and 30, 2014.
Can’t get enough Bison? All our vendors have been posting photos of their resplendently messy post-Bison studios. Check it out. Maybe after seeing this, you really, really want to be a vendor next time? APPLY HERE!
Until next time,
Vikki and Jim

Bison 101

Bison Man

We’re almost there, guys.  The Bison starts tomorrow, and we cannot wait.  As organizers, we (Vikki + Jim) are endlessly amazed at the creative talent that exists in this city, and equally impressed at the amount of support for independent endeavours offered in Edmonton.  Great work, everyone!

Ok, with that said, let’s get down to brass tacks (does anybody say that anymore?).  The Royal Bison:

Location: Old Strathcona Performing Arts Centre (8426 Gateway Blvd, Edmonton). Across the tracks from the Strathcona farmers market.

Hours: Friday 5-9, Saturday 10-5, Sunday 11-5

Food: Delicious meals and snacks and drinks by Culina

Moneys: ATMs available on site.  Many vendors accept credit card.

Get there early: We’re giving away 15 tote bags full of Bison vendor swag to the first people in line on Friday.  Plus every 1000th person through the door gets one, too.

Where’s my favourite vendor at?: Find who you’re looking for by checking out the vendor map!

Vendors: The Royal Bison is 100% local.  All vendors are Edmonton-based.  Pretty awesome, huh?

History: This is the 16th Royal Bison.  Wow – we’ve been around for 8 years!  For more about the Bison and its organizers (past and present), check out our About page.

Future Vendors: Wanna be a part of this?  Our Vendors page has all the info you need.

Ok folks, that’s it.  See you at the fair!

Salgado Fenwick

Veteran apparel vendors Salgado Fenwick are back again for the Bison (which starts on Friday!), and we can’t wait to see what’s new.  Here’s their bio:

Salgado Fenwick is made up of two ladies. We are happy to bring you quality garments, that are hand silkscreened with limited edition art work. Each season we set out to create an entirely new collection of 4-5 prints. Our imagery features animals, mythical creatures and nature.

We use American Apparel t-shirts as well producing our own long sleeve an sweat shirts designed by Salgado Fenwick and sewn in Vancouver. We have styles for both men and women. We can’t wait to show you our new collection at Royal Bison!

You can find these ladies in the Great Hall at the Royal Bison.  Until then, you can also find them on the Instagram and the Twitter.

Andronyk Jewelry

Former Royal Bison organizer (and Jewelry making extraordinaire) Jeanie Andronyk will be back for this fair.  And we can’t wait to see her!  Always a creator of striking, unique, and wearable jewelry, rumour has it Jeanie will be (soft) launching her brand new Infinite Engagement Ring collection at the Bison!  These rings are handmade with 100% recycled white, yellow, and rose gold, and conflict-free diamonds or moissonite.  Awesome.  She really does create amazing pieces (including the wedding bands for current Bison organizers Vikki and Jim).  Be sure to check out her table at the Bison, WHICH STARTS FRIDAY!  Oh, and until then, you can find Jeanie on Instagram.

Ameya Studio

We’re really excited to have Amy Beaith-Johnson of Ameya Studio back again for the Bison.  She sent us a great bio, so here it is:

Amy Beaith-Johnson behind Ameya Studio has been crafting up all natural handmade soaps in Edmonton since 2008. She is excited to return to the Royal Bison and will be bringing some new items to launch her new baby care line. But, don’t fret, there is something for all members of the household whether it’s boreal forest musk deodorant and soap for guys or rooibos tea facial creamfor the gals. Stop by and check it out. Not only does it smell amazing, she includes locally sourced ingredients, some even from the Edmonton river valley, but, you can pronounce every ingredient in her products without consulting a chemical encyclopedia! She’s helping folks keep it natural on the prairies!

Awesome.  Be sure to check it out!  Oh, and you can find Ameya on the Twitter, too.
