Yes, this puts the Pain in Painting. And it's certainly about a woman experiencing a moment of anxiety so sharp that she can't keep it together. But I've also been thinking about this - that if you examine anxiety, and look at it deeply, it becomes almost ridiculous. It's bonkers that we would let our own brains torture us so much. So this painting is also about experiencing anxiety so deeply that it slides from anguish into absurdity.
My hope is that whoever buys these prints puts them in their home and is reminded to not take shit so seriously.
