Title: "Species At Risk: Whitebark Pine"
Size: 10" x 10" with 3/4" cradle
Medium: Silkscreen on birch wood
This piece is a part of a series depicting Species at Risk within Canada, with the intention of creating conversation around conservation. This upper alpine tree, the Whitebark Pine, is currently listed as Endangered. The greatest threats to this beautiful pine are introduced disease (white pine blister rust), fire suppression, and climate change.
As individuals we all have a role in causing climate change, and we also have a role in creating positive, impactful change to protect the planet.
This piece started as a drawing done by hand, made into a stencil, exposed onto a silkscreen, and then manually pulled a dark navy ink through the stencil onto the birch wood. This piece is mounted on a 3/4" cradle which allows for easy hanging (please see image showing the back of the piece) and is finished with a UV protective varnish. Please note the exact wood grain pattern in your piece may vary from the piece photographed.
