Title: "Species At Risk: Mountain Holly Fern"
Size: 10" x 10" with 3/4" cradle
Medium: Silkscreen on birch wood
This piece is a part of a series depicting Species at Risk within Canada, with the intention of creating conversation around conservation. This rare native vascular plant, the Mountain Holly Fern, is currently listed as Threatened. The greatest threats to this beautiful evergreen fern are mining, industry development, forest fires, and climate change.
As individuals we all have a role in causing climate change, and we also have a role in creating positive, impactful change to protect the planet.
This piece started as a drawing done by hand, made into a stencil, exposed onto a silkscreen, and then manually pulled a forest green ink through the stencil onto the birch wood. This piece is mounted on a 3/4" cradle which allows for easy hanging (please see image showing the back of the piece) and is finished with a UV protective varnish. Also please note the exact piece of wood/wood grain pattern may vary with your piece.
