Call For Vendors
The 12th Royal Bison Craft & Art Fair
5-6 May, 2012

——
Hello, ladies and gents –

Oh yes, it’s that time of year again! The spring 2012 Royal Bison Craft & Art Fair approaches!  We are now accepting vendor applications for the fair which is happening 5-6 May, 2012.  As always, The Royal Bison remains in the same vein of Edmonton’s other indie craft and art fairs, hosting locally made, sellable and/or engaging items seldom present in conventional shops. Our holiday 2011 sale smashed every attendance record in the book –  we are of course hoping for strong numbers this May as well!

Applications are due on Sunday March 4, 2012, but sooner is always better. Please pass this around to anyone who may be interested and give these application instructions a read.

Location and hours:
The fair will be held on 5-6 May, 2012 from 10 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and 12pm to 5pm on Sunday at the Old Strathcona Performing Arts Centre building (8426 Gateway Blvd., nicely close to the busy Strathcona Farmers’ Market crowd).

Table fees and size:
The Royal Bison is all about being cheap to be a part of. If you have vended before, you have heard that we have been forced to raise our table prices slightly due to rental increases. We’ve kept the price hike to a minimum and don’t forsee having to raise the table rates again for some time. Sorry! That’s the way she goes!

Tables (2.5×8’ of table space, with chairs to sit on) are available by the half ($45.00 for 4 ft) or in their entirety ($90.00 for 8ft) for the weekend. Any additional space needed for racks, etc., must be deducted from a vendor’s table space.

Payment:
We will be accepting e-transfers, cheques, and trusty ol’ Paypal for table fees.

Some things to note:
Sorry, the Bison cannot accept one-day vendors.

If you back out of the fair after you’ve been accepted, we will still have to charge you for your table, and we may ask you to take a vacation from the next fair. With our new setup, backed-out on tables can go to other awesome vendors on a wait list.

Apply to the May 2012 Royal Bison by filling out this form by Sunday, March 4, 2012!

The final deadline for applications is Sunday March 4, 2012. At that point, the Bison will consider all factors and come up with a roster for the fair and inform applicants of the results. And please note: we reject a lot of applications for a lot of reasons; a completed application does not translate to a spot in the fair. Incomplete applications will also be ignored.

Vendors will be chosen by March 15, 2012, and you will be notified of your application’s status by then!

Apply apply apply! Can’t wait!

Best,
Vikki Wiercinski

Stacy Lloyd Brown – Lord of the Amps

November 23rd, 2011 by Joshy

Once again Stacy Lloyed Brown will be at the Royal Bison. He’s known for making these really nifty hand made guitar amps whose tones will melt your little ear buds. Some are made of cigar boxes, others are made of wine cases, and some are made of old drive in theatre window speakers. Retro! But be warned: he’s sold out of these little puppies every single time, so get them while they’re hot! Contemplating can easily lead to regret at the Royal Bison.

If it comforts you, though, Stacy tends to have some tricks up his sleeve when he sells out of goods. Last time it came down to beautiful hand drawn portraiture. Who knows what it will be this time?

Keri V’s got some rad leather goods to bring to the fair this November! She works mainly with leather, as well as with vintage supplies – from lace to Military surplus. She designs and creates unique bags, purses, satchels, wallets, and cuffs, and this is her second show and first xmas season with the Royal Bison. Like many of us, she’s feverishly working trying to have more items completed for the fair, and when the day comes, she’ll be in the Great Hall! Come see her on Nov 26 and 27!

JimShootsFilm at the Bison

November 18th, 2011 by Vikki
Jim Johansson of JimShootsFilm takes pictures of old, falling apart and out of place curiosities across North America (east coast, west coast, middle-of-the-world Winnipeg) with a collection of old (and cheap) film cameras.  He also finds himself taking a lot of pictures of, um, garbage (like you’ve never seen it before).  He will have framed prints, cheaper, unframed prints and postcards for purchase at this year’s Bison.  Find him talking chainsaws in the Small Hall, Nov 26 and 27!

Fezzig

November 18th, 2011 by jeanie

They look so warm!

Fezzig always brings us the cutest baby bibs, wallets, and pouches to put our various babies/knicknacks in!

This time around, Jesse Bell of Fezzig is bringing us tissue box cozies!  Each one is unique and features recycled men’s slacks on the inside and fun and colourful fabrics on the outside.
Slacks.
That’s a fun word to say.
Check out this and more at her table on the stage in the Great Room!
